San Francisco’s DJ crew The Space Cowboys aren’t know for playing dubstep sets. In fact, they rum the electronic music gamut playing almost anything but an orthodox dubstep set. So don’t expect Sunless SF Dubstep Mix to hold your favorite dubstep tunes from last summer. What you can expect is a dancefloor worthy ride of tunes that stretches from electro house, breakbeat, and yes, dubstep.

Anyone who has been a fan of dance music has either danced to, or had a mixtape with the song, “Fine Day” by Miss Jane. So it doesn’t surprise me that a dubstep remix of the iconic house tune has shown up. The song has only been uploaded to Sound Cloud for a week and it has already attracted over a half dozen comments praising the glorious remix. You hit play and be American Idol judge of Bare’s dubstep remix for yourself.

Tommie Sunshine may look like you could buy weed and mushrooms from him on the corner of Haight and Asbury but don’t get it twisted. He’s one of the most prolific DJs/producers/remixers on the circuit right now. Releasing remixes from a wide selection of artist, his talents are sought from bands across all genres. Major Lazer’s 2009 hit “Hold The Line” has seen its fare share of knob tweekers, and Tommie adds his own voice in the form of the mighty 808.

I can’t believe Ratatat has released 4 LPs in 4 years. That’s an impressive amount of recorded material and often encompasses most bands complete discography. “Party With Children” sounds exactly how it sounds, a playful instrumental track that you can finger paint to, or listen during a play date, or have a tantrum to.

If you go to a dubstep show at least 25% of the crowed are dreddies. Not the Grateful Dead kind, more like raver kind who smoke joints out in the smoking section of the club. With the dancehall intro, laser-beam bass line, and forest effects, “Tactile Evasion (Liquid Stranger Remix)” is sure to be a hit with that crowd. Or any crowd that’s into epic-swarming dubstep.

When it comes to artists who ignore trends and write original electronic songs, Ursula 1000 and DJ Ayers would be two artists who come to mind. And if I had to predict what kind of techno would provide the soundtrack to an all out zombie invasion, it would be acid. “Zombies” is a classic techno lovers wet dream and I hope that when a zombie catches me and starts chewing on my brain, this song is blasting in the background.

Rusko may be dubstep’s first cross over star, but you don’t go from dance music’s underground to almost pop star status strictly from producing dubstep. This week Mad Decent and Rusko are celebrating the arrival of Rusko’s debut album “O.M.G.” repackaged in a 2XLP colored vinyl with a gatefold jacket. “O.M.G.” runs the bass music spectrum showing off Rusko’s production chops.
